Kind Words

Sam is an award-winning photographer and friend whose work lives in the Library of Congress. He wasn't even in the wedding business when we asked him to shoot ours. He said yes without hesitation, and we're so glad he did.
Working with Sam was effortless. His comfort behind the lens is only outdone by his comfort with people. He's a funny, warm teddy bear of a human who made the whole day feel easier just by being there. Part photographer, part project manager, part therapist. We never once worried about our photos.
On the day, Sam shot with both a digital camera and a Holga film camera. The digital work is gorgeous, but the Holga shots are something special. They captured the feeling of our dance party in a way that still takes us right back to that room. Pure exuberance.
What impressed us most was how Sam handled our families. He directed people of all ages with total ease, reading each person and adjusting his approach to get everyone comfortable, posed, and assembled exactly as he envisioned. No stress, no awkwardness. Just Sam being Sam.
We got married at the Green Building in Gowanus, Brooklyn. The venue doesn't exist anymore, but Sam's photos are how we revisit that day. We couldn't recommend him more highly.

“Sam photographed our wedding, and we could not have been happier with the entire experience. A wedding is one of the most joyful days of your life, but it is also emotional, busy, and full of moving parts. Sam made the photography feel easy, fun, organized, and completely natural.
He has such a calm and thoughtful way of working with people. He made us, our families, and our friends feel comfortable in front of the camera while keeping everything moving and ensuring the important moments were captured. Nothing felt forced or stressful. He choreographed the day beautifully without ever taking away from the celebration.
The photos were incredible. Sam captured not just how the day looked, but how it felt — the emotion, the joy, the energy, the candid moments, and the people we love most. Looking back at the photos brings us right back to that day.
We are so grateful that Sam was our photographer and would highly recommend him to anyone looking for someone who is talented, organized, creative, and truly wonderful to work with.”

“I am so grateful that we had Sam to capture our day. I knew I didn't want a bunch of static, generic posed shots but rather cared more about having memories of how the whole celebration felt as it was happening.
Sam nailed it.
He also made sure we had a few beautiful family pictures that felt 100% like us, and then he seamlessly blended into the evening, capturing moments, dancing, joy, facial expressions that said everything about what the evening meant to us. He is also so easy to work with, before and after. Warm, responsive, reliable. Hire Sam!”

“We are so happy that we chose Sam as our wedding photographer. My husband is an artist so I knew he would be picky when it came to photography. We chose Sam initially because we loved his editorial style of photo journalism with rich lighting and warm storytelling. Sam's artistry with our wedding photos was breathtaking. He had several interesting film options such as toy cameras; those were some of our favorite photos of the day.
Sam captured every important moment. He researched cool spots for us to take photos in LA before our actual ceremony, which gave us many unique images that not only captured our day, but wove our story into the fabric of Los Angeles. When it came to working with our large families, Sam was able to guide them and wrangle everyone in a kind and orderly manner. We look at our wedding album each anniversary and every time we say how glad we were to find Sam because the photos are simply timeless.”
